Each platform has a different switch, and only Europe gets a legal right. Meta trains its models on public posts, comments, photos and profile information and on your chats with Meta AI, not on private messages, and in the EU and UK not on under-18 accounts. In the EU and UK you can file Meta's objection form, which it says it honors; elsewhere the practical control is to make posts non-public, because Meta says it uses only content with a Public audience. LinkedIn: switch off the "Data for Generative AI Improvement" setting (linkedin.com/mypreferences/d/settings/data-for-ai-improvement); LinkedIn says this stops future use by it and affiliates including Microsoft but does not undo training already done. X: Settings > Privacy & Safety > Data sharing and personalization > Grok & Third-party Collaborators, untick "Allow your public data as well as your interactions, inputs, and results with Grok and xAI to be used for training and fine-tuning"; protecting your posts also keeps them out. In the EU and UK you can go further: GDPR Article 21 lets you object to any processing based on legitimate interests, the company must stop unless it proves overriding grounds, and it must answer within one month (Art. 12(3)).
