The Do Not Call Registry will not help: the FTC and FCC both exempt political calls and texts from it. What does apply is the TCPA. Autodialed or prerecorded campaign calls, and autodialed texts, to a cell phone are illegal without your prior express consent (47 U.S.C. § 227(b)(1)(A)(iii); 47 CFR § 64.1200(a)(1)); a text a volunteer sends by hand needs no consent. On a landline, prerecorded political calls are allowed without consent but are capped at three in any 30-day period, must identify the caller at the start of the message, and must give a call-back number. Once a campaign has consent you can revoke it any reasonable way, by replying STOP or telling the caller not to call again, and it must honor that within a reasonable time not exceeding 10 business days (47 CFR § 64.1200(a)(10)). Forward junk texts to 7726, file at consumercomplaints.fcc.gov, and keep screenshots with dates and numbers: a robocall or autodialed text to your cell without consent is worth $500 per call, up to $1,500 if willful, in court including small claims (47 U.S.C. § 227(b)(3)).
