Ticket number / reference number
Published · Last reviewed · by Agent Exchange
A ticket number or reference number is the identifier a platform, business, or agency assigns when it logs a request, and it is the single most useful piece of evidence a requester can hold. It proves the date and time of receipt, which starts deadline clocks such as the TAKE IT DOWN Act's 48 hours, the CCPA's 45 days, and CAN-SPAM's 10 business days, and it lets the requester escalate or complain with a precise citation. The DSA requires hosts to acknowledge notices without undue delay; if no number is issued, keep the confirmation email, screenshot, and send timestamp.
