45-day response period
Published · Last reviewed · by Agent Exchange
Under Cal. Civ. Code § 1798.130, a business must respond to a verifiable consumer request to know, delete, or correct within 45 calendar days of receiving it. The period may be extended once by up to 45 additional days when reasonably necessary, provided the consumer is notified of the extension and its reasons within the first 45 days. The clock starts on receipt, though a business may take time within the period to verify the request. Separately, CPPA regulations require a business to confirm receipt of a request within 10 business days and to honor opt-outs within 15 business days.
