Authorized agent (CCPA)

An authorized agent is a natural person or business entity that a California consumer has authorized to submit CCPA requests on their behalf, such as a request to know, delete, correct, or opt out of sale or sharing. Under the CPPA regulations, a business may require the agent to provide proof of signed permission from the consumer and may ask the consumer to verify their identity or confirm the authorization directly. Powers of attorney and conservatorships also qualify. Businesses cannot refuse agent requests outright, which is what allows deletion services and helpers to act for consumers.
