Sensitive personal information is a CCPA category (Cal. Civ. Code § 1798.140) covering government identifiers such as Social Security, driver's license, and passport numbers; account credentials and financial account details; precise geolocation; racial or ethnic origin, citizenship or immigration status, religious or philosophical beliefs, and union membership; the contents of mail, email, and texts where the business is not the intended recipient; genetic data; biometric data processed for unique identification; health information; sex life or sexual orientation; and neural data. Consumers may direct a business to limit use of this information to what is necessary to provide the requested goods or services.
