ADA Title II web rule

The ADA Title II web rule is the Department of Justice regulation (28 C.F.R. Part 35, Subpart H, published April 24, 2024) requiring state and local governments, including public schools, courts, and agencies, to make their web content and mobile apps conform to WCAG 2.1 Level AA. Entities serving populations of 50,000 or more must comply by April 24, 2026; smaller entities and special district governments by April 26, 2027. Limited exceptions cover archived content, preexisting documents, third-party posts, individualized password-protected documents, and old social media posts. Individuals may file complaints with DOJ or sue under Title II.
