National Do Not Call Registry

The National Do Not Call Registry is the FTC-managed list of telephone numbers whose owners do not want telemarketing sales calls, created under the Do-Not-Call Implementation Act of 2003 and the Telemarketing Sales Rule. Registration at donotcall.gov is free and does not expire. Sellers and telemarketers must scrub their call lists against the registry at least every 31 days; calling a registered number is a violation punishable by civil penalties. The registry does not stop political calls, charitable solicitations, surveys, informational calls, or calls from companies with which the consumer has an established business relationship or has given written consent.
