Revocation of consent (TCPA)
Published · Last reviewed · by Agent Exchange
Revocation of consent under the Telephone Consumer Protection Act is a consumer's withdrawal of permission to receive robocalls or robotexts. Under FCC rules effective April 11, 2025 (47 C.F.R. § 64.1200(a)(10)), consumers may revoke consent in any reasonable manner, including replying 'stop', 'quit', 'end', 'revoke', 'opt out', 'cancel', or 'unsubscribe' to a text, or using any method the caller offers. Callers cannot restrict revocation to a specific channel and must honor it within a reasonable time not exceeding 10 business days. One confirmation text within five minutes is allowed. Callers bear the burden of proving consent existed.
